Seven steps from request to repayment
| Step | What Happens | Your Decision Point |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Choose the amount and purpose | Request only what the expense requires and what your budget can reasonably repay. |
| 2 | Submit one online request | Provide accurate information and review the consent before sending the form. |
| 3 | Potential provider matching | The request may be routed according to product, state, availability, and basic provider criteria. |
| 4 | Verification and underwriting | A provider may verify identity, income, bank information, credit data, cash flow, or fraud signals. |
| 5 | Offer review | If a provider makes an offer, compare the lender, principal, net proceeds, APR, fees, term, payments, and total cost. |
| 6 | Agreement and funding | After acceptance and any final verification, the provider may initiate a transfer; the bank controls final posting. |
| 7 | Repayment and servicing | Pay the lender or servicer named in the agreement and contact that company about payoff, hardship, or account questions. |
The request, credit decision, funding, and repayment are separate responsibilities
| Participant | Primary Role | Not Its Role |
|---|---|---|
| TheProBank | Operates the request experience and may share submitted information as described in the consent. | Does not underwrite, approve, set terms, fund, service, or collect a loan. |
| Participating provider or lender | Reviews the request, verifies information, applies its criteria, and may present an offer. | Is not required to approve, offer the requested amount, or use the same criteria as another provider. |
| Servicer | May manage billing, payment processing, balance information, payoff, hardship, and collections. | May be a different legal entity from the lender that funded the loan. |
| Applicant or borrower | Provides accurate information, reviews disclosures, and chooses whether to accept an offer. | Is not required to accept an offer merely because a request was submitted. |
Prepare the decision before you prepare the form
Write down the exact expense, the amount needed, the date the money is needed, and the smallest principal that solves the problem.
Identify the income source, due-date timing, essential expenses, current obligations, and the cash buffer that remains after each scheduled payment.
• Decide whether the need is one-time or recurring. A recurring shortage is not solved by repeatedly adding short-term debt.
• Know which product structure you are willing to consider: installment payments, a single-payment product, a line of credit, or another arrangement.
• Set a maximum affordable payment and a maximum total repayment before reviewing any offer.
• Keep a no-borrowing alternative available, such as a bill extension, payment plan, employer advance, credit-union option, or community assistance.
Submit one request, then review the actual lender, cost, payment schedule, and total repayment before accepting.
Review the form, consent, and data recipients before selecting Submit
| Check | What to Confirm |
|---|---|
| Operator and role | The name of the company operating the form and whether it is a lender, request-matching service, broker, publisher, or another type of business. |
| Purpose | Whether the information is used for matching, prequalification, application review, identity verification, fraud prevention, servicing, or marketing. |
| Recipients | Which provider, service-partner, verification, analytics, or marketing categories may receive the data and whether onward transfer may occur. |
| Credit and data review | Whether a soft inquiry, hard inquiry, specialized consumer report, bank-data review, or other verification may occur and what action triggers it. |
| Communications consent | Whether calls, texts, prerecorded messages, or emails are authorized; which parties may contact you; and how permission can be withdrawn. |
| Data retention and security | How long information may be retained, how to request access or correction, and where to report suspicious or unauthorized activity. |
A match means a provider may be willing to continue the process
Request matching is an attempt to identify a participating provider whose basic product, state, and routing criteria may align with the submitted information. It is not a completed application, underwriting decision, approval, or promise of an offer.
| Status | What It Means | What It Does Not Mean |
|---|---|---|
| Request submitted | The form and applicable consent were completed. | A provider has approved the request or agreed to fund it. |
| Potential match | A provider may be available to review the information. | Eligibility, approval, amount, APR, or terms are confirmed. |
| Provider review | The provider may verify information and apply underwriting criteria. | The review will be completed immediately or without additional documents. |
| Offer presented | A provider has supplied proposed contractual terms. | The offer is affordable, competitive, or required to be accepted. |
| Agreement accepted | The borrower has electronically or otherwise accepted the contract. | Funds have already posted to the receiving account. |
| Funding completed | The transfer has become available through the receiving bank or card account. | Repayment, fees, late consequences, or servicing obligations disappear. |
The participating provider controls verification and underwriting
Identity, age, residence, income or benefits, employment, bank-account ownership, cash flow, existing obligations, credit reports, specialized consumer reports, fraud indicators, and product eligibility.
A provider may request documents, ask follow-up questions, require a bank connection, obtain a credit authorization, verify account ownership, or complete final fraud and compliance checks.
Approval is not the same as a good offer
If a provider presents an offer, evaluate the complete contract rather than focusing only on the approval message, requested amount, payment size, or funding speed.
| Offer Field | What to Review |
|---|---|
| Legal lender and servicer | Confirm the legal entity extending credit, the company that will service the account, and the official support and payment channels. |
| Principal and net proceeds | Compare the contractual amount with the amount actually delivered after any disclosed deductions. |
| APR and finance charge | Review the annual percentage rate and the total dollar cost of credit disclosed for the offered schedule. |
| Fees | Identify origination, late, returned-payment, expedited-transfer, membership, optional, or other charges. |
| Payment schedule | Confirm the payment amount, number of payments, frequency, first due date, final due date, and autopay or ACH authorization. |
| Total of payments | Know the total amount scheduled to be repaid if payments are made as agreed. |
| Early payoff and extensions | Check payoff procedures, prepayment terms, refinancing or extension costs, and whether additional interest or fees may apply. |
| Collateral or cosigner | Understand which asset or other person may be legally responsible if the obligation is not paid. |
Submit one request, then review the actual lender, cost, payment schedule, and total repayment before accepting.
A lending decision does not mean the money has reached your account
Final decision
The provider completes required verification, underwriting, fraud, and compliance review.
Agreement
You review and accept the disclosures and contract. Save a complete copy before leaving the page.
Provider release
The lender or provider initiates an available ACH, debit-card, or other transfer method.
Network processing
The payment rail processes the transfer subject to cutoffs, weekends, holidays, errors, and return rules.
Bank posting
The receiving bank or card issuer determines when the transfer appears and becomes available.
After funding, follow the agreement and contact the lender or servicer
| Account Task | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Scheduled payments | Confirm each amount, due date, frequency, and the account from which payments will be made. |
| Autopay or ACH | Understand the authorization, how to change the payment method, and what happens after a failed or returned payment. |
| Early payoff | Request an official payoff amount and written confirmation when the balance is closed. |
| Hardship | Contact the lender or servicer before the due date. Ask about available options without assuming an extension, waiver, or modification will be approved. |
| Late payment or default | Review late fees, returned-payment fees, collection activity, credit reporting, collateral consequences, and cosigner obligations. |
| Complaint or fraud | Keep the agreement, disclosures, messages, bank records, and payment confirmations; contact the lender, servicer, and appropriate regulator when necessary. |
No match, a decline, or an expensive offer is a valid stopping point
• Do not submit multiple identical requests until you understand the possible inquiry, data-sharing, and communications consequences of each process.
• Check your credit reports for errors and use the official dispute process when information is inaccurate.
• Reduce the requested principal to the verified expense rather than borrowing a larger amount because it is available.
• Ask the creditor, landlord, utility, medical provider, or service provider about a payment plan, due-date change, or bill extension.
• Review credit-union small-dollar options, employer-based advances, community assistance, or help from family or friends where appropriate.
• Never pay an advance fee through gift card, wire transfer, cryptocurrency, or another difficult-to-reverse method for a promise of guaranteed credit.
Protect sensitive information throughout the request process
Verify the URL, operator name, role disclosure, Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, consent language, security indicators, and official support channels before entering a Social Security number or bank information.
Keep relevant records, verify unexpected contacts through official channels, report suspicious activity, withdraw marketing permission where available, and avoid sending documents to unverified email addresses or messaging accounts.
• Do not use a link from an unexpected text or email to send identity or bank documents unless the provider confirms the channel.
• Avoid entering highly sensitive information over unsecured public Wi-Fi or on a device you do not control.
• Review whether information may be sold, shared, transferred again, or used for marketing and how to exercise available privacy choices.
• Treat a request for an upfront payment, remote-access software, gift card, cryptocurrency, or password as a stop signal.
